Problem
Modern high-pressure lifestyles have normalized anxiety, yet emotional distress remains largely "invisible" and difficult to quantify. Current mental health solutions often lack real-time intervention tools, and the market is missing a non-invasive wearable that provides both physiological monitoring and immediate physical haptic comfort.
Challenge
The core challenge was integrating sophisticated physiological sensors and haptic feedback into a miniature, aesthetically refined "bubble" form factor. The design had to ensure long-term wearing comfort while architecting a seamless ecosystem, from tactile interaction to digital guidance, that translates complex bio-data into intuitive mental health insights.
Solution
MELO is an integrated ecosystem comprising a smart "Bubble Ring" and a companion App that provides real-time stress monitoring and regulation. The solution leverages unique tactile "bubble" compression and thermal feedback for immediate grounding, paired with an AI-driven App that offers personalized breathing exercises and longitudinal mood-tracking insights.
Impact
The project successfully redefined mental health management from reactive treatment to proactive daily care. Its excellence in merging social impact with cutting-edge technology earned prestigious international recognition, including the Red Dot, iF Design Awards, and Good Design Australia. Furthermore, the innovation is backed by multinational Design Patents across the US, EU, and Asia, alongside a Utility Model Patent, setting a high-fidelity, legally protected benchmark for the future of assistive healthcare wearables.

Design Process
Our design process follows a user-centered approach to ensure the MELO Bubble Ring addresses real needs. We conducted quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to understand anxiety symptoms, coping strategies, and user preferences. Insights from this research informed the creation of personas and user journey maps, helping us identify pain points and design solutions that resonate with users. We also developed and tested prototypes, refining the ring and app based on user feedback to create a seamless and effective experience.
Sustainability was a core consideration throughout the process. We selected eco-friendly, durable materials and incorporated a modular design to minimize waste. Energy efficiency was also a priority, ensuring the device has a long battery life while maintaining performance.

Social Impact
The MELO Bubble Ring aims to create a positive impact on mental health by offering an accessible, discreet, and effective tool for anxiety management. It addresses barriers such as stigma, cost, and lack of accessibility by providing users with a solution they can integrate seamlessly into their daily lives. By empowering individuals to manage stress proactively, the ring fosters greater emotional resilience and self-awareness.
Beyond individual users, the MELO Bubble Ring promotes broader conversations about mental health, encouraging openness and reducing stigma. Its sustainable design also reflects a commitment to environmental well-being, contributing to the global effort to reduce waste and promote responsible consumption.
